Viennese New Year Concert

We are delighted to celebrate our 45th Viennese New Year Concert and to pay tribute to the concert’s founder, Roger Payne. Roger joined the City of Oxford Orchestra as Principal Trumpet in the late sixties and conducted the New Year concerts for 35 years. The programme includes two concertos from one of Roger’s favourite composers, Haydn. Virtuoso cellist, Peter Adams performs the lyrical Cello Concerto in the first half and then, in Roger’s honour, one of his dear friends, the renowned John Wallace plays Haydn’s brilliant Trumpet Concerto. Finally, our remarkable Artistic Director Stephen Bell, who celebrates 10 years since he joined COO, will whirl the orchestra through his usual sparkling programme of Strauss favourites.

If you have access requirements, or to book the £35 seats, please call the City of Oxford Orchestra directly on 01865 744457.
