To Temper Tyrants

The Oxford Early Music Festival

Elegant Music for Enlightened Despots.

Intimate chamber music to soothe the autocratic whims of music-loving benevolent despots of the Age of Enlightenment, incl. Louis XV, Frederick the Great, and the Elector of Saxony Frederick August 'the Strong’.

Virtuosic masterpieces by Telemann, CPE Bach, Quantz, and Couperin are performed by award-winning Charivari Agréable: Dan Watts (baroque flute), May Robertson (baroque violin), Martin Clark (baroque bassoon) & Kah-Ming Ng (harpsichord).

Duration: 1 hour 30mins with interval
