Fri 19 - Sat 20 Jun, Magdalen Grove Auditorium
To celebrate the history and 450th anniversary of Thomas Tallis’ 40-part motet Spem in alium, Oxford Festival of the Arts in partnership with ORA Singers, is putting on a two-day interdisciplinary symposium on 19th & 20th June 2020.
We invite you to join us on a journey into the mysteries that lie behind Spem in alium and its contemporary reflection, Sir James MacMillan’s Vidi aquam. This exciting symposium, featuring eminent British and international scholars, is the first of its kind for OFA and ORA Singers.
It will delve deeply into the compositional history of the 450 year-old Spem in alium, and will include insights from contemporary composers, and a breathtaking concert performance by the award-winning ORA Singers, joined by Oxford University’s Schola Cantorum.
