Steven Isserlis & Alasdair Beatson

Steven Isserlis & Alasdair Beatson

Steven Isserlis returns to the JdP with a group of three sonatas, each of which manages to fuse elements of lyricism and of formal dynamism—Bach’s First Gamba Sonata, Beethoven’s popular A major Cello Sonata and Steven’s own transcription of the Schumann Third Violin Sonata.

The recital concludes with well-loved shorter pieces by Fauré and Schumann.
