Brahms Sextet and Schubert Quintet end the Festival on a high note
Brahms String Sextet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 36
Schubert String Quintet in C major, D956
At last, something we have played in the Festival before – although only once, eight years ago. Not the Brahms, which is new to the Festival, but the Schubert. Both are towering works, suitable for finishing a curtailed Festival – except that one wants the slow movement of the Schubert never to end.
