A Grade I, G.F. Bodley designed church and adjoining cloister that forms part of St Stephen's House, a Permanent Private Hall of the University.
Recently updated as a concert venue, SJE has underfloor heating and new lighting, comfortable chairs, a new toilet block, staging, and a Steinway D concert grand piano. The acoustic is superb.
SJE is on the Iffley Road opposite the University Sports Ground. Buses from Oxford city centre stop directly outside. Buses from London stop five minutes' walk away in St Clement's.

A programme combining Thomas Tallis's Renaissance masterpiece, the ten minute 40-part motet Spem in Alium (In no other is my hope), with an arousing Mass by Johann Nepomuk Hummel, a pupil of Mozart.
