David Lancaster Of Trumpets and Angels
Mozart Ave Verum Corpus, Requiem
We are proud to present Of Trumpets and Angels, the world première of a setting of two of Donne’s Holy Sonnets by David Lancaster, winner of our 2017 composer competition. David already has a number of impressive choral works to his name, and we are delighted to be working with him on this exciting new venture. The theme of death and redemption in the Sonnets also runs through Mozart's beautiful short motet Ave Verum Corpus and his moving Requiem. This last draws on all the composer's operatic and dramatic powers, and is full of memorable moments of yearning, awe and exquisite consolation.
