Corona Strings return to SJE with their exciting and engaging playing in a programme of glorious Themes and Variations for strings. The climax of the evening will undoubtedly be Britten’s amazing Variations on a theme by Frank Bridge whilst the tuneful and joyous world of English folk music is reflected in Vaughan Williams’s Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus and Holst’s ever-popular St Paul’s Suite. Britten’s version of Purcell’s Chacony complements the programme whilst the evening also includes a Romantic journey to Russia for Arensky’s hugely rewarding Variations on a theme of Tchaikovsky.
