The acclaimed pianist Jack Gibbons celebrates the 35th year of his highly popular Oxford Summer Piano Series, founded in 1988. For the penultimate concert of the series, Gibbons profiles the life and music of Schubert, and brand new programme featured for the first time in this series. Many of Schubert's most poignant masterpieces will be represented, including the Sonata in B flat D.960 composed in the last weeks of Schubert’s tragically short life, the exquisite music from Rosamunde, Liszt's transcriptions of Schubert's songs including the immortal Ave Maria, and much more.

Jack Gibbons is a unique phenomenon in the musical world of today. Thanks to his virtuosic skills Gibbons can hold an audience in thrall. His concert-giving style is equally attractive: before his performances he talks unassumingly but with great authority from the platform, drawing the listeners into a special relationship
