The acclaimed pianist Jack Gibbons celebrates the 35th year of his highly popular Oxford Summer Piano Series, founded in 1988. For the penultimate concert of the series, Gibbons profiles the life and music of Schubert, and brand new programme featured for the first time in this series. Many of Schubert's most poignant masterpieces will be represented, including the Sonata in B flat D.960 composed in the last weeks of Schubert’s tragically short life, the exquisite music from Rosamunde, Liszt's transcriptions of Schubert's songs including the immortal Ave Maria, and much more.
