Performers gathered outside a venue holding their instruments

Experience the expressive intensity of the Italian Baroque in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, one of the most moving sacred works of the eighteenth century. Performed by Voices and Instruments of Time & Truth under the direction of Edward Higginbottom, this programme brings together three Italian masters: Alessandro Scarlatti’s profound Miserere mei, Domenico Scarlatti’s lyrical Salve regina, and Pergolesi’s unforgettable meditation on grief and compassion. Together, these works offer a powerful exploration of devotion, sorrow, and consolation.

This concert marks the 80th birthday of the conductor and organist Edward Higginbottom.
