Oxford Chamber Music Festival
A whirl of a concert! – full of dances. Prokofiev, born in Donetsk province, caps our programme with his ballet masterpiece, translating Romeo and Juliet into some of the greatest tunes of the twentieth century. Around him are his teacher Glière; Lysenko, "the father of Ukrainian music", with a lovely cello-song; and Schubert, Myroslav Skoryk and our featured composer Valentin Silvestrov all come to the ball.
