A million for Macmillan!

Every December since 1996, Oxford’s magnificent Christ Church Cathedral has resounded to the sound of exquisite choral music and the voices of the country’s best-known actors, performing readings to celebrate the arrival of the Christmas season. This much-loved annual event is Follow the Stars Macmillan Carols, fund-raising in support of the invaluable work of Macmillan Cancer Support, and takes place this year on Friday 11th December at 8pm.

To mark our 30th anniversary, we are planning an extra-special celebration, combining nostalgic elements from our inaugural concert and the talents of the brightest stars of today to entertain and move the audience. Returning stars will include Toby Jones, Greg Wise, Sinead Cusack and Shaun Evans. It will be THE unmissable event of Oxford’s festive calendar and we would love you to join us, filling the cathedral with your voices alongside the world-renowned Oxford Bach Soloists. An added musical treat this year will be the presence of the celebrated tenor, Thomas Elwin. To date, thanks entirely to all those who have bought tickets over the years and the generous support of the event’s sponsors, we have raised more than £950,000 - every penny of which goes directly to improve the outcome and survival rates of those living with cancer. How wonderful would it be to be part of the evening that marks our fund-raising hitting £1 million?

Seats are offered in four individually priced areas within the Cathedral. Bookings of the Gold, Silver and Red areas are for numbered seats. Bookings of the Green areas are for Unreserved seats. Green seats may be Restricted View, but most have sight of TV screens showing the Performance Area.

If your plans change and you find yourself unable to use your tickets, Tickets Oxford will make best efforts to re-sell them to a waiting list, operated in line with demand.

Wheelchair Spaces

Flat access is available for wheelchair users booking wheelchair seats, but in general the Cathedral is a complex space which only offers non-flat access to certain areas, notably the Latin Chapel, Sanctuary and Chancel.
