Fire and Flowers
Songs of Love by Contemporary British and American Composers
Tickets £15

A summery feast of sumptuous a cappella music, this concert draws together 20th and 21st century settings of secular poetry, from heart-on-sleeve Whitacre, to the intensity of Lauridsen’s ‘Fire Madrigals’, and finishing with Philip Glass in typically propulsive and unconventional mood. Along the way, we feature recent, rapturous sets of love songs by contemporary British composers David Bednall and Owain Park.
Jubilate is one of Oxford's top chamber choirs, carving out a distinctive niche in the city's crowded choral scene with imaginatively-programmed and powerfully executed concerts. In recent years, with director James Morley Potter, the choir's repertoire has encompassed a wide range of music from renaissance polyphony to Eastern Orthodox sacred music to contemporary music, as well as activities in support of new music.
