Music in Action is proud to present two programmes of classical music on Wednesday, 18 June 2025. Hosted at the beautiful Jacqueline du Pré Building at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, these unique events offer two performances in a stunning setting.

Concert 1 (6pm-7pm) will feature masterpieces by Bach, Mozart, and Chopin, showcasing the talents of renowned violinist Harriet Mackenzie and pianist Nikolai Medvedev.

Concert 2 (8pm-9pm) celebrates the rich tradition of English music. Featuring pieces by Dowland, Elgar, and Dodgson, this programme highlights the unique voice of English composers, capturing their passion, introspection, and elegance. A particular highlight is the music of contemporary composer Richard Dodgson, whose works are rarely performed but offer a fresh and exciting perspective on the English tradition. In August, Mackenzie and Medvedev will record works by Dodgson, thanks to the generous support of the Dodgson Trust.

These concerts are part of a new series aimed at enriching Oxford’s musical life and expanding its vibrant cultural scene. By bringing diverse, high-quality performances to the city, Music in Action hopes to foster a deeper appreciation of classical music in the community.
