The acclaimed pianist Jack Gibbons celebrates the 35th year of his highly popular Oxford Summer Piano Series, founded in 1988, with a series of biographical programmes in the historic Holywell Music Room. In the first of two Chopin concerts the composer’s early life is traced via his epic Ballade no.1, the dazzling Andante Spianato & Grande Polonaise Brillante Op.22, the deeply moving Romance from the Concerto Op.11 and a selection of studies, mazurkas and waltzes.
