Dvorak String Quartet No. 13 in G major, op. 106 (1895)
alongside a work for quartet by an Oxford student composer
The Castalian String Quartet are now a regular feature of Oxford’s musical life through the Hans Keller String Quartet Residency which they hold at the Faculty of Music in association with the Cosman-Keller Trust. In their debut performance at the JdP, the Castalians perform two G major quartets written at the end of their respective composers’ lives – the Dvořák written in Prague shortly after the composer’s return from America, and the Britten dedicated to Hans Keller himself. By way of contrast, they will also perform a work by an Oxford University student composer that they will have worked on in composition workshops with Professor Martyn Harry throughout the year. For more information about the residency, please visit the Faculty of Music page.
Preceded by a pre-concert talk by Prod. Martyn Harry at 6.45pm.
All ticket purchases include one drink from the bar and one programme. Please present your ticket at the venue to claim this offer.
