This Adler Quartet concert is associated with the recent five-year string quartet residency at Oxford University supported by the Cosman-Keller Trust. Here the Adler Quartet presents the world premiere of a promising work by an emerging Oxford University composer alongside established masterpieces. St Hilda’s College student Philip Theodorou’s String Sextet is a powerful, warmly expressive piece in four movements that draws its inspiration from symphonic composers such as Bruckner and Sibelius. For the world premiere of his piece, the Adlers are joined by two members of the Telyn Quartet, Isobel Neary- Adams and Seth Collin. It is also a very special opportunity to hear Natalie Loughlan and Steffan Morris play with their new quartet, the Adlers. Their work at Oxford University has been transformative for students here, and these interpretations of quartets by Janacek and Brahms are not to be missed.

Presented in association with the Faculty of Music, the Schwarzman Centre and the Cosman-Keller Trust

There will be a pre-concert talk by Philip Theodorou with Prof. Martyn Harry at 6:45pm
