Vaughan Williams Mass in G Minor

Vaughan Williams Mass in G Minor

Oxford Pro Musica Singers present one of choral music's most sublime unaccompanied settings of the Mass; that by the well-loved English composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Using techniques and styles more akin to the Tudor compositions of Tallis and Byrd, Vaughan Williams creates a piece that, whilst echoing the past, is full of the lush sonorities that are associated with Early 20th Century English Music.

The programme is completed with music for Lent by both Vaughan Williams's contemporaries and others. We include three contrasting settings of the text 'O Vos Omnes'; by Gesualdo, Vaughan Williams himself, and the noted concert cellist Pablo Casals.

A harmonic treat if ever there was one!

Duration: 1 hour 45mins with interval
