Wagner's sensuous settings of Mathilde Wesendonck's poetry are placed alongside his sincere admirer Duparc's intense songs in the first half of this recital. In the second, we turn to Britten and his good friend and composition teacher, Frank Bridge.

Lisa Howarth trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Cardiff International Academy of Voice, and has recently finished a contract with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Phillip Thomas has accompanied distinguished singers all over the world, and for many years was Official Accompanist at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
