Sixteen young musicians from the Keiskamma Music Academy, a centre of excellence in music education based in Hamburg, Eastern Cape, South Africa, will be giving a performance as part of their 2017 UK Tour entitled “First Dances”.

The music explores interactions between the music of the Naro San people of Botswana, the Xhosa people of the Eastern Cape and Western classical traditions. The students of the Academy, under the direction of Max Khang, will perform classical pieces as well as original works, specifically composed for their 2017 UK tour, by South African composers Ilke-Lea Alexander, Tshepo Tsotetsi and Pops Mohammed.

Art and craft articles from the Keiskamma Art Project will be on sale at the performance.
