The acclaimed pianist and composer Jack Gibbons has been performing his highly popular annual Oxford Summer Piano Series without a break since 1988. In the first of two programmes following the remarkable life of Chopin Jack Gibbons plays the composer’s Fantaisie-Impromptu, Funeral March Sonata and a selection polonaises, studies, preludes, mazurkas and other works.

“The same freshness in his reaction was evident in Chopin's Second Sonata, which was again spiced with colour. The Funeral March's outer sections were monumentally mournful. The finale was likewise even more fleeting than usual with some careful pedalling heightening its ghostliness." The Times
